Meet The Visionary
Joe Wilson (1996) is a photographer from Guildford, Surrey.
Joe was a late starter to higher education, beginning his degree in Photography BA (Hons) at the age of 25, but he has always had a fond love of photography.
From a young age, he could often be found with a camera, exploring the local area near his home and documenting the natural flora and fauna around him.
Joe has worked with many photographic genres in his 29 years, but through his degree, he has found his voice through the medium of portrait photography.
This passion for telling others’ stories through the medium of his photographic lens has enabled him to give others a voice.
In addition to his digital photography, Joe enjoys using an analogue medium in order to convey a far deeper and more emotional side to much of his work.
This interest in the analogue process started at the age of 16, when he began studying A-level Photography.
Through this course, he soon found a particular fascination with Black and White 35mm film.
Joe has exhibited his work at many galleries across the South East of England, the most recent of which was being part of Photo Portrait Now at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
He has also held exhibitions across Surrey and Hampshire, including The Allen Gallery in Alton, Farnham Maltings and the Peter Thompson Gallery at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
